Surf City, New Jersey

Surf City is in the center of Long Beach Island. It boasts the largest permanent population of any of the island's communities.

2008 Beach Badge Information

Badges are required on the ocean and bay beaches for everyone older than 12 from now (mid June) through September 1, 2008. The rates for badges are:

  • seasonal badge - $35
  • weekly badge - $17, good from Saturday through Friday
  • daily badge - $8
  • Seniors 65 years young and over, no badge needed (proof of age required)

The lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM, daily, through September 1, 2008.

The beach badge booth is open every day from 9:00 AM until 4:30 PM.

Beach Access

The ocean beach is accessible from all the side streets that end at the beach. Parking is available on most streets.

A bay beach is found at 15th Street and Barnegat Ave.

There are restrooms at Borough Hall (9th St and Long Beach Boulevard).

There is a flagged surf fishing area north of the 23rd Street jetty to the 24th Street lifeguard station.

A flagged surfing area is located from the south side of the 1st Street jetty to the South 2nd Street lifeguard station. All surfers are required to wear leashes.
