These communities take up 2/3 of Long Beach Island.

 

2008 Beach Badge Information

Badges are required on the ocean and bay beaches for everyone older than 11 from now (mid June) through September 1, 2008. The rates for badges are:

  • seasonal badge - $35
  • weekly badge - $20, (good from Saturday through Friday)
  • daily badge - $5
  • Seniors 65 years young and older do not need a badge (proof of age required).

Lifeguards are on duty from 10 AM to 5 PM, daily, through Labor Day.

Operation Thank You! - Military personel and their families are allowed on the beaches for free. All that is needed is a valid active duty military ID (show to the badge checker).

Beach Access

The ocean beach can be accessed from ~ 160 streets that end at the beach. The southern beaches are wider and flatter than the norther beaches.

There are two bay beaches. Brant Beach - Bayview Park, 68th Street. Beach Haven Terrace - New Jersey Ave and 131st St.

Parking is available on most of the secondary streets. There is also a parking lot a Bayview Park in Brant Beach and a pay-for-parking lot in Holgate.

There are restrooms in a few locations:
Brant Beach - at Bayview Park
Holgate - far southern end of town
Loveladies - at Harbor South

 

Surfing is allowed, at the descrection of the lifeguards, at the following locations:

32nd St / Brant Beach
48th St / Brant Beach
72nd St / Brant Beach
85th St / Brighton Beach
110th St / Haven Beach
112nd St / Dunes
14th St / North Beach Haven
